Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Are you prepared to celebrate Christmas with Christ? We have discovered that decorations and Christmas carols can give us many opportunities to share Christ with others during this time. A song was written many years ago called “C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S” and I’m sure most of you know it but I want to share it with you this morning.

“C” is for the Christ Child born upon this day;
“H” for herald angels in the night.
“R” means our Redeemer;
“I” means Israel;
“S” is for the star that shone so bright.
“T” is for the three wise men,
They who traveled far.
“M” is for the manger where He lay.
“A” is for all He stands for;
“S” means shepherds came,
And that’s why there’s a Christmas Day.

May we be prepared to tell others why we celebrate Christmas. We celebrate Christmas because the birth of Jesus is Good News. “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:10-12 KJV) This is the Christ of Christmas. We celebrate Christmas because we needed a Savior and only Christ could be our Savior. We celebrate Christmas because of God’s great gift. “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” (2 Corinthians 9:15 KJV) Let’s take time and ask ourselves why we celebrate Christmas? What is the most important part of your celebration? Our focus should be on why we celebrate the birth of Christ and as said before, use the many opportunities we have to share the Good News of Christ’s birth. That good news is that Jesus came to earth to become our Savior. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2 KJV) Focus on Christ and have a Christ filled Christmas.
