Dear Dad and JoAnn,
This is an urgent prayer request. Please share it with your prayer chains and in church on Sunday. Two missionaries working with the Ebola ward at ELWA have tested positive for Ebola. The first is Dr. Kent Brantly:
URGENT PRAYER NEED: Dr. Kent Brantly, Medical Director for the Samaritan’s Purse Ebola Consolidated Case Management Center in Monrovia, Liberia, has tested positive for the Ebola virus. He is currently undergoing treatment at a Samaritan’s Purse isolation center at ELWA Hospital. Samaritan’s Purse is continuing medical operations at our Ebola Case Management Centers in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, the Liberia Ministry of Health, and other global health authorities.
Dr. Brantly is married with two children. Samaritan’s Purse is committed to doing everything possible to help Dr. Brantly during this time of crisis. We ask everyone to please pray for him and his family.
The second is Mrs. Nancy Writebol, an SIM missionary.
Nancy worked with Dr. Brantly and Nancy when she volunteered at the ELWA Ebola ward to help dress the doctors and nurses in protective gear and disinfect them as they came out of the ward. We know both of them well, so this is very close to our hearts. Thankfully, Dr. Brantly’s wife and kids had already left for a wedding in Texas so they are not at risk.
This is a deadly virus that has about a 60% mortality rate. However, the sooner it is diagnosed and treatment started, the higher the chance of survival.
See the Samaritan’s Purse Facebook page for more info.
