Greetings from Mangalore, India!
I my plane took off from Orlando at 2:30 pm Wednesday. My fourth plane…Air India…landed in Mangalore around 3 am est. The best report I can give on the journey is that it was uneventful. In these updates I give some specific prayer requests. However, I never know what the Lord lays on the hearts of people to pray for. You may remember that when Nancy and I came to India last fall we arrived on Friday morning and our bags arrived on Monday morning (three days later)! On this trip…I was through India immigration in record time…my bags were some of the first to come out…and…I breezed through customs. It was the fasted and smoothest it has ever been. If you prayed for that…the Lord answered!
At the Mangalore Baptist Bible Institute we try to have two, two week classes, every two months. All of that to say that we generally have two teachers here at one time. On this trip I came by myself and will be alone until next Thursday. Well, I am staying alone and teaching alone until Thursday when I will be joined by Harry Rasquinha, the missionary that we work with here in India. I am staying in the Rasquinha’s home but have plenty of people close by in case I need anything. In fact, the “locals” are very attentive to whatever needs I have. For example I arrived today to chicken curry, fried chicken, and chapatis (Indian flat bread) for lunch. There was enough for at least four…and….it was ll for me. I will let you decide if you think I ate it all.
Tomorrow will be spent relaxing and studying for Sunday and Monday. On Sunday morning I will speak at the Open Door Baptist Church of Moodibidri. On Sunday afternoon/evening I will speak at the Gospel Light Baptist Church of Mangalore. Class begins on Morning at 9 am. I will teach from 9-5 Monday-Wednesday….and then half days after that.
It is amazing the technology we have access to. I am sitting in Mangalore typing on my Netbook. However, I have remotely accessed the computer on my desk and am sending this email through it. If you were sitting at my desk in Kissimmee you would see the activity on my computer screen…but…no one sitting at the computer. The big question is…”What will they come up with next?” In spite of these amazing advancements there are still hundreds of millions of unsaved people in the world. In fact, the majority have never heard a clear presentation of the gospel one time! It is our responsibility to do all we can to reach as many as we can while the doors are open.
These updates go to many people. Some have been receiving them for many years. For others, this is the first time. All of that to say that often people read the updates and have a question, but, are a little embarrassed or intimidated to ask. Let me say this…if you have a question….no doubt someone else has the same question. So…ask away…and…I promise to not reveal the name(s) of the question asker!
Thank you for your interest and prayer.
